European City of Culture Bid

Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross MP John Thurso, commenting today on the shortlisting of six cities for the European City of Culture bid, said:

"I am extremely disappointed to learn that Inverness Highland has not been successful in its bid for European City of Culture. It was an innovative and imaginative concept to link the Highland Region with Inverness to create the bid. Although it has not been successful, the process has undoubtedly helped to focus on the cultural richness and diversity of the Highlands and perhaps even to highlight some of those areas where investment might be profitably made".
