Local MP, John Thurso, today congratulated Royal Mail after attending the unveiling at Dover House in London, of new stamps commemorating Scotland. The photographs for the stamps were taken by Colin Baxter, Peter Jordan and Gary Smith, and one features a winter scene of Loch Assynt.
"The photography is stunning. I know I am biased but, although they were all superb, I thought the stamp featuring Loch Assynt was the best. It is a good advert for the area which I hope will encourage more people to discover the great beauty of the North".
The collection was launched by Adam Crozier, Chief Executive of Royal Mail, who was brought up on Bute, and hosted by the Scotland Office Minister, Anne McGuire.
